What is ToolbarCounter?
ToolbarCounter provides graphical analysis of visits to your website and a realtime snapshot of your website traffic to a toolbar within your IE browser. The statistics and analysis will tell you important information about your website's visitors letting you build your website to their needs.
With no programming knowledge, you can install the toolbar, copy and paste our small counter code into your webpage, and start recording visits to your website.

Do you put advertising banners on my website?
No, we do not put any banner advertising on your website. We display a small discreet counter image on your page to show the number of "Hits". In order to provide the Counter service free of charge we place a small text link under the discreet counter image.

Is it true the ToolbarCounter service is completely Free?
Yes it is true! We do not charge for the service, instead we use sponsors to allow us to continue delivering a top service at no cost to you.

How do I start using ToolbarCounter?
Click on the "Download" in the menu, install the Toolbar and follow the instructions to setup your Counter.

I have lost my Counter code and I cannot access my "Account Manager" to get it, what shall I do?
To access the "Account Manager" and retrieve the counter code to place on your website go to the toolbar and click on "Account Manager" in the drop down menu.

I have lost my Toolbar, how do I get it back?
If you do not see the Toolbar, go to View > Toolbars and click on the ToolbarCounter option.

How do I change my email address or website URL?
Go to the "Account Manager" can click on Edit Account.

Why does my counter not detect referrers?
If you have used Frames, the counter will not count the referrers. Move the counter code to outside of the frameset or pop it up in a separate window.

Why are all visitors counted twice?
You may have inserted the counter code twice, check though the HTML and remove the code that has been repeated.

Can I put the counter on more than one website?
Yes, but the stats will be combined and presented on one set of charts.

What do I need to use ToolbarCounter?
The minimum system requirements for running the ToolbarCounter are:
o Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, XP or 2003
o Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or later

I have a Mac, can I Install ToolbarCounter?
The ToolbarCounter is not currently available for the Mac. We hope to release a version for Mac users soon, please check here for the latest news.

No, the ToolbarCounter is only available in English at present.

Where is the Toolbar, I installed it but I don't see it.
If you do not see the Toolbar, go to View > Toolbars and click on the ToolbarCounter option.

How do I uninstall the Toolbar?
Uninstalling the Toolbar is just as quick and easy as the installation. To uninstall the toolbar:
o Click on the triangle to the right of the ToolbarCounter logo to access the drop-down menu.
o Select the > Uninstall option.
If you are unable to access the drop-down menu from the toolbar, you can also uninstall the toolbar by using the Add/Remove Programs utility in the Windows Control Panel:
o Click the Windows start button and select Settings.
o Open the Control Panel folder and double-click the Add/Remove Programs entry.
o Scroll through the list of programs and highlight "ToolbarCounter".
o Click the Add/Remove button

Why do I get the following error when installing: An error prevents this program from continuing. Could not extract the current file. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process?
This happens if you already have the toolbar installed. Please uninstall the toolbar using add/remove programs and reboot your machine.

AdAware wrongly highlights ToolbarCounter as a ad supported / spyware software. AdAware deletes some of the files needed for Toolbarcounter. You should uninstall the ToolbarCounter by going to Add/Remove programs in control panel. You should then reboot your machine and reinstall ToolbarCounter.

Why does my toolbar not recognise or associate with my counter after signing up?
You need to let all pages during the signup process complete loading or you might have problems getting your toolbar associated with your counter. There have also been some issues in the past where having other toolbars installed may effect our site communicating with your ToolbarCounter toolbar, as a last resort you could try uninstalling your toolbars and trying ToolbarCounter again.

What is a Visit?
A visit is a series of actions that begins when a visitor views their first page from the server, and ends when the visitor leaves the site or remains idle beyond the idle-time limit. The idle-time limit is thirty minutes. Each unique IP address is a new visit.

The country is determined by referencing the visitor's IP address against an IP to Country database.
